Hand Woven Tape – The Ties That Bind

Presented by Susan Faulkner Weaver. Susan has spent several years researching the weaving of Early American tape, as well as the different styles of looms used in the weaving process. She will discuss the undertaking of this project. Susan will also demonstrate weaving tape on the different looms. Event is held in the Brendle Museum’s Lower Level, 111 N. Market St.

Antiques Appraisal Day

Dawn of the Automobile Age: 1769 – 1910

Presented by Lebanon County native Bob Ladd who brings his love of early automobiles (and possibly one of his own old autos) to Schaefferstown in this talk on the development of “man’s greatest means of transportation.” Come learn about the origins of autos from a passionate collector and historian. Event is held in the Brendle Museum’s Lower Level, 111 N. Market St.

Traditional Cherry Fair and Early American Craft Show 

Visit our Traditional Cherry Fair and Early American Craft Show held at the historic Alexander Schaeffer Farm, 213 S. Carpenter St. and enjoy a Saturday filled with traditional artisans, farm-life demonstrations, family fun, cherry treats and great festival foods.

Afternoon Garden Tea on the Farm

This presentation on the use of natural dyes, organic gardening and heirloom seeds includes a house tour and dry house demonstration. Light refreshments will be served.

1st Annual WWII Weekend

The 1st Annual WWII Weekend is coming to the Historic Alexander Schaeffer Farm for two  exciting days of demonstrations, displays and battle reenactments. This is a free event. Food will be available for purchase.

Young Villagers Colonial Workshop

Children going into grades 4 through 7 in the fall are sure to enjoy our Young Villagers Colonial Workshop where they can learn many traditional crafts. Held on Alexander Schaeffer farm at 213 S. Carpenter St.

Fall Harvest Fair

Come spend a weekend with us at our Fall Harvest Fair held on the historic Alexander Schaeffer Farm at 213 South Carpenter St. Learn how to make apple cider and apple butter or simply enjoy wonderful PA German food and crafts from the 1800s. There will be ongoing farm events and demonstrations.

HSI Annual Meeting & Silent Auction

Join us for our Annual Meeting featuring a special presentation by a history-focused guest speaker. Event is free, located at the Brendle Museum’s Lower Level at 111 N. Market St. Bring a dessert and an item to donate to the Silent Auction. All members, guests and visitors are welcome to attend.

Christkindlmarkt & Tavern Lunch

The annual Tavern Lunch is held inside the Gemberling-Rex House at 106 N. Market St.  There are 5 full-service sittings from late morning to mid-afternoon.  Seats are $14.00 per person and fill up fast, so reserve your place early.  Our Christkindlmarkt is free and held across the street in the Brendle Museum’s lower Level, where you’ll enjoy finding handmade period gifts made by skilled artists in our region.
