111 N. Market St. Schaefferstown PA 17088
NOTICE: Due to inclement weather, this presentation has been rescheduled from March 3 to SUNDAY, MARCH 17.
There is a beautifully-carved sandstone headstone that marks the grave of Maria Elizabeth Erpff, the 12 year old daughter of Schaefferstown resident Philip Erpff who died in 1769. Come learn about traditions in Pennsylvania German gravestones – materials used, text, and decorative styles – as Michael Emery discusses the topic and illustrates with a powerpoint presentation.
Mr. Emery is currently the site administrator of Cornwall Iron Furnace and has worked for the Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission for 21 years. He brings to us 23 years of study of Pennsylvania German decorative arts and architecture.
This FREE event is held in the Brendle Museum’s Lower Level at 111 N. Market St.
Date: Rescheduled from March 3 to March 17, 2019, due to weather.
Fee: Free. Donations accepted.
